Dear Class of 2020,
Welcome to Florida Memorial University (FMU)! We’re excited that you chose to join our family and we welcome you with open arms! As the Student Government Association (SGA) and Royal Court, we want to welcome you to this new journey with some helpful advice that we’ve learned throughout our own experiences in Lion Country.
As you begin to get acclimated with the campus and classes, you will realize time management is huge. Don’t look at college as an impossible task, but as an obstacle to overcome. Remember, the challenges you may experience today, will make you grow stronger tomorrow. There will be some adjustments to make, but no matter what it is, you can do it!
If you’re living in the dorms, you will encounter some additional responsibilities. For example, nobody will tell you to do your homework, eat your vegetables, or go to sleep before two o’clock in the morning! However, plenty of people are here on campus to help you out: roommates, professors, the counseling center, the RA’s, and your new friends. It’s easy to let all of the excitement on campus distract you rather than enhance your learning, but remember, why you’re here! This is where you belong! #FMU2020 #ROAR in 4!
