Biology Professor, Dr. H. K. Chaudhari, along with Chemistry and Environmental Studies Professor and Miami-Dade County Environmental Quality Control Board co-chair, Dr. William Hopper, took FMU students Malayjia Parrish, Lequoyal Graham, Camila Scobino, Hohebeth Vega, Monique Roberts, Lashawnd Johnson, Lashaquan Kemp, Gabriel Cash, Dennis Grey, Archeline Edouard, and Francesca Occena to Morningside Park, where they spent all morning on Morningside Island picking up trash as part of the County’s 2016 Baynanza celebration.

Baynanza is a celebration of Biscayne Bay and its significance as one of our most important ecological systems in South Florida. While Baynanza includes more than 25 great events throughout March and April, the event that has become nearly synonymous with this celebration is the Biscayne Bay Cleanup Day. Each participant received a commemorative tee shirt and learned more about the importance of preserving coastal resources.
